For Preschool Providers: Puppet Based Conflict Resolution:
Our first workshop has been created around a unique Puppet tool ( prop) : Fuzzy the Monster Puppet. He has been with us for more than 20 years and we are now creating copies of him for use by providers who complete our Workshop #1 Training. He is not just a puppet but a character: the character of a very shy child who you will learn to play in the workshop. Through his use in conflict situations we can learn to elicite empathy in the children for another child ( Fuzzy); shift focus away from themselves thereby de-escalating the situation.Fuzzy also provides the opportunity to step back from the situation, because, as you are now becoming Fuzzy, "you" will not longer be there. This can be effective when a child feels strong shame or embarassment over what has happened. Or feels the dissappointment of the provider which could be overwhelming him or her For more information click on Book Now, for available dates and costs. The workshop is in 3 parts so you wil need to book 3 sessions in a row to complete the workshop. Please book on line and send payment in advance to: Reverence for Childhood, 5753 N Haight Ave, Portland, Oregon 97217. Currently the workshop is only available in Portland Oregon, and will be conducted on site at one of the ChildCare Centers making the booking. Maximum participants is 12; so providers from more than one center may be put together for the sessions. please call with any questions once you have completed your booking. .503 253 3236 Thank you.
